Personal Journey:
Last year, I went through a minimalist phase meaning, I was calling and identifying myself as a minimalist. And in the summer of 2018, I dropped the labels and went full blown Jesus Alone. Yes, I was a born again Christian back in September of 2003. I was basically identifying myself as a Voluntaryist, Minimalist, Reformed Minded, Young Earth, Cenesationist, Calvinistic, Baptist, Jesus Freak. Basically I dropped all the labels and stick with Jesus Freak or Biblical Christian. Sure I still believe in all the labels in some degree or another but I was putting on more and more labels. This complexity has shifted from material to labels. So, I decided to cut my financial life as well and live as simple as possible. Why Living Simple?: Living simple is something one could strive for if they so choose. Our lives are being more and more complex over the last sever decades. I'm mentally living a simple life. I basically stripped down everything mentally and not being emotionally attached to anything or anyone, except Jesus (at least I tried to). Living a simple life is a life of saying no, to a lot of things, but saying yes to things that one values. Right now in my life, I'm supper focused on saving and paying down my debts because I have a job that pays well and pays the bills. Hence, my underlining reason why I have chosen to stay do this blog once a week and pay for the coffee at a local coffee shop (for their internet) because I kicked out my internet bill last month (April 2019). It is better (financially) to pay for a $2.25 coffee at a local coffee shop and use their internet for several hours one day a week, instead of paying internet access at my home which was $40 per month. And I don't have to go to the coffee shop if I don't want to spend the money. So, I spend about $9 - $11.25 per month for fast internet (faster than my mobile hot-spot because I have a Blackberry KeyOne not a KeyTwo or a more advanced smartphone. If I had my more expensive phone, I could in theory get my mobile hot-spot much faster but that would be a cost of $800 to $1,200 for me to upgrade to the latest smart phone, in which I'm unwilling to do until October 2019 or October 2020, which would be my two year anniversary of my Blackberry KeyOne if I buy it in October of 2019. I might wait another year for an upgrade for my smart phone, depends on what happens in October of 2019 in terms of smart phone market. I might switch to another device? Depending on what is out there and the price points of smartphones. That is my thoughts this week. I do have everything that I have done in the past on this website under the about section somewhere. I don't like "deleting" my work in terms of my blogs and other content that I post on my website. Sure it looks clean but if you dig around it isn't as clean as one thinks.
