Yes, I'm a big advocate for everyone to have their own website. If you want to voice your opinion about anything on social media, then it might be wise to have your own website, especially if one has outside of mainstream opinions, like me. Now for personal blog / website, just go with Square Space, Weebly, GoDaddy*, Wordpress.org [not the (dot)com]** for those who want a bit more work and customization than the other website builders. If you are thinking about getting a personal website, get one. Plus you get to have way more customization than any social media platform would ever give you (aka the MySpace problem of too much customization).
There are many people who have been canceled on social media, and your ideas might be okay today, but five, ten, twenty years from now, they might not be okay and one who thinks of what is mainstream today, might get canceled. So, I saw this type of censorship back in 2010 to 2012. So, hence why I got "TSKJesusFreak.com" as my personal website. *Yes GoDaddy has a website builder that is decent. **There is a difference between WordPress.org and WordPress.com. If you are thinking about getting the WordPress.com don't it is mediocre when compared to Square Space, Weebly, or GoDaddy. ***Make sure you actually own your domain, not like what Wix does and others in the industry of owning your domain. That is why I don't advocate using Wix or any other platform that has control over the domain that you are using. You want to make sure that you own your domain. If you want, buy the domain from GoDaddy and then have it point to whatever service that you are using for your website. PS - I know I rant about this on a routine basis, but it is important for the culture of freedom of speech.
